Eliezer was born in Vancouver and raised in the Tri-Cities area (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody), and currently lives in Surrey with his partner and children, where he enjoys spending sunny days at the beach, being on a stand-up paddle board, and eating mangoes. He initially began his work supporting people with chronic illness, dementia, end-of-life, and developmental disabilities as a Care Aide. He then went on to complete his graduate studies and began working in a primary care and palliative care setting before further specializing in grief and loss counselling following his own personal experiences with the loss of a loved one. While in graduate school, he began volunteering with the local hospice association, gaining further experience and education on how to support the bereaved and those at the end of life with the Companioning Model created by Dr. Alan Wolfelt. Eliezer continued his training with the Grief Recovery Institute and the Center for Prolonged Grief (FKA Center for Complicated Grief), and has been privileged to work as a Palliative Care Social Worker and Grief Counsellor, supporting hundreds of people through loss. His experience also includes many years of facilitating grief support groups and workshops.
Eliezer holds a Masters Degree in Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts (Health Sciences), and is a Grief Recovery Specialist. He uses a variety of empirically-supported therapeutic modalities to support his clients and has sought additional training and certification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Motivational Interviewing, Complicated Grief Therapy, Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy, and continues to attend workshops through the Hospice Foundation of America. Eliezer is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
